SAFE TIPS FOR BABY-SITTERS
- Baby-sitters are responsible for the care and safety of young children
- You should have emergency phone numbers near the phone.
- You should know where to contact parents in case of an emergency.
- You should know the address of the house and phone number where you are
baby-sitting.
- Ask the parent to take you on a tour of the house
- You should know where:
- First aid supplies are located
- Flashlights
- Exits
- Don't baby-sit for a child that is seriously ill
- Vomiting
- Feverish
- Frequently complaining of pain
- Keep a child away from danger
- Buttons and other small objects
- Household cleaners
- Medicines
- Plugs and outlets
- Matches and lighters
- Stairs
- Windows
- Electrical appliances
- Knives
- Plastic bags
- Practice fire and burn safety when using the stove
- Be prepared in case of fire
- Stay calm
- Get kids out first
- Crawl under smoke
- If clothing catches fire STOP, DROP, and ROLL
- Don't go back in the house
